SFX ORDER
Well i got the stiched kit, jesus what a peice of shit.the spirit gum was all dried up and shit utter crap.im going to go bcak and ask him for the 18 bloody dollars for it.Cause it might have been worth like 6 bucks.definetly definetly never ever doing that again. The black and white were good but the containers are paper thin. And i got another job to help for supplies and shit cleaning carpets with Carpets Plus. His name is mark and he was in kell os the other day and said he has a wack o work coming up.so ill be stashin the cashin for the movie.this time well order from a warehouse proper like.Ordering from a dollar store only taught us that its utter crap and there nothing to learn from except that we got hosed and ripped off.still waiting to hear back from crystal in van and im going to phone her tomorrow as well as kristine here in town.

SFX ORDER
Well we definetly wont be ordering from clarke again.Completely unorganized, didnt know where it was very unprofessional.phoned to tell me the order was in and when i got there didnt know where anything was.adn we wont be ordering through rubies except if it halloween cause its just high grade halloweeen stuff really.but i did phone kristine bebek again and waiting for her to call us back to set up a meeting.and waiting to here from Cristine from vancouver about her friends website.I might just phone her tomorrow and get some more details about her friend or talk to her directly.the white and black are pretty cool though.but i still need to get the stiched face and the fx gel.
State of our education
Well we got an email back from crystal and shes found a friend with 20 years of experince who wants to get in touch with us.We could still do a class of a sort.i will figure out a list of effects we need to learn. But only the ones concerning our movie.See if she can teach it all to us and the amount of time to dolloars were looking at.I'll try to get it all for four hundred at the most and as minimal as possible of course.then we can schedula a couple days of and go for a long weekend to van.I got many places we can stay at.thats not a problem.anyway post a blog what u think or call.email whatever.and ill get a list put on here with all the effects i think well need.oh ya the womans name is rachel griffin.she sent me her website but it didnt work asking for a direct link hopefully thatll work if not pretty hokey.

Sfx Research and production
Well the email has been sent off to crystal from sfxstuduios in burnaby so well see how that pans out.I gave her pretty much the things we need to learn or at least some insight on.should hear back from her soon.Conatacted dennis abramson from town here that vicki weller had refered us to.He was busy but wilkl get back to us in the next couple of days.He has an entire studio below his house and everything for production.By the sounds of it hes the man in town here.We could do all our production right here in the city but well see what happens when we set up a meeting with him.I also contacted Kristine Bebek from town here in relation to the sfx make-up end and she was more that willing to help out and give us all the info that we might need including copying her notes and looking at text books and suck. She said she also had minor experience with prostetices wchich is very cool hopefully the kits from rubies are in and we can show her them and get her opinion on them.I will be calling and leaving a message on your phone crhis about setting up a time for a meeting with her.I also called Ruth to let her know we havent forgotten about her, also to see if she might be in town cause she was in and out for the next couple of months but to no avail. But so far we have 2 sources for make-up in town,a source for helping with production costs and maybe even a place for editing.things are definetly looking up,considering a couple weeks ago there was nothing in this godforsaken town lol.
Well my first draft of our 10-15 min short film script is finished.so next i will be transfering it to final draft 6 never used the program but well see how it goes. Our order from rubies is still not in yet cant wait till it gets here.when it does well contact ruth agin and see if she in town to helpus out.She sounded pretty stoked before hopefully her enthusiasm hasnt disspated in the last couple weeks. But if she has theres Kristine Bebek in townwho does have sfx training courses under her belt but i havent contacted her yet to see if she would be interested.there are a coouple make-up artists listed by the film commision but she is the only one with sfx experience. If things dont work out after i email this girl in burnaby about the sfx information im still on the fence about it.possibility to use it for supplies.dont know if wayne will go for it.but never know 400$ worth of sfx equipment and makeup would rock. But also giong to check out renting cameras and get prices could be rental fee for filming who knows.
Meeting (vicki weller)
Well we made it to the m,eeting with vicki weller and it went as we had hoped. We found a source of information and some guidance within the city.alot of our questions got awsered and we are now in the midst of doing a 10-15 min short film first. Then use that as our calling card to try to get funding for a feature film.Though we dont care if we get funding or not this is happening. We also got a copy of rell west a filmakers guide to resiources in B.C.again something we have been ssearching relentlesly for.So our first order of buisness was to find somehwre we could learn some sfx so i contacted and phoned ever place listed from here to victoria but to no avail.Actually i think i have 2 plces yet to call. But UBC and SFU pretty much laughed at me frickin jerk offs. But within these calls i met some one who said she would help us on the side maybe work somehting out financially and she knew alot of people in the feild she could set us up with. But its something im eagy about doing we dont have very much money and small chance of even getting that much again anytime soon.Dont want to get snowballed,so taking my time on that and getting all the info first .Going to phone around and see what i can find out about there credibility.oh yes the film course BEHIND THE SMOKE AND MIRRORS was cancelled due to low inrollment. We finally get something to help us emensly and we get screwed damn it.But no matter onward we go.Also going to be looking inot cameras for filming, one of the best would be dv or HDDV.not true high definition but still good and got a source where we might be able to get half of fees.I will do this if it kills me.
Wednesday, May 03, 2006
I did get to conatact the okanagan film comission and she sent me to the thomson nicola comission.i was sure it was okanagan ah well.the person in charge is vicki weller phoned a couple of times but couldnt get a hold of her called monday may 1 and did get a hol do f shcedulaed a meeting for the morning of the 2nd with me and chris.Found out there was a 2 day film courseat the collage called smoke and mirros so i checked into it course was 189 dollars and i didnt have the money so our investor kicked in again and paid for the course im now registered and its on the mornings of the 13th and 14th of may.I called skitz to let him know about it and he was stoked also except that he had no monet either.Wayne caught wind and was willing to pay for him also.I dont know how far along if very at all we are but we would be no where if it wasnt for him right now.He gets the first credit on all of our movies now.we owe him alot for this thanks wayne.
reaserch
Well phoning around some more and contacted matt brown from beacon studios who has been a huge help so far and has offered his help.I have also found a make-up artist that will help us,I arranged a meeting with her and it went very well she will help us with everything that we might need and by the sounds of it we might be able to bring her on board. She is leaving for the coast but is going to check in to her old supply house to see what info she can get for us.And also her friend is a film teacher at ubc and shes going to get ahold of him for us. so things are starting to look up for us in this godforsaken town.Uncle wayne gave us 200 dollars for make-up and some sfx equipment so he is for the now the main envestor in our project.also phoned the okanagan film commision to get some info but had to phone back later.things are looking up.

Research
Well theres pretty much no resources in this godforsaken town for special effects make-up.phoned chapters they have nothing and looked online.second glance may if we ewnt in to it to check it out but they coiuldnt find anything off hand.phoned danielle megans moms friend and there was no awnser but did find out that she is RIVER production. and offers acting lessons.will call her tomorrow and try to get ahold of her agin to see if we can get some leads on the workshops.Phoned the ethetics places in town and none have any trining or offery anything related to film.might phone around agin to some more tommorow.international asthetics saids the closest trainging would be BLANCH MACDONALD in vancouver i didnt phone them but i think i will tomorow and see what exactly they offer.couldnt find any number for the cottonwood center so ill just go over tomorrow and go into the main office myself to see whats up there.also will look for Vicki Wellers number tommorow to see if that comes up with any info.I did make a call to sarahs friend in kelowna to see if sahe might have heard or know of anyone the3re that could give us information or help.she called back and said she had a friend that just graduated from a course and was already working in kelowna she will give him my number and he will get a hold of me his name is MARK.I was also talking to my old bartender from the vous and she knows an anestitician(if thats how you spell it lol) and she will give her my number as well.Hopefully she can helpl us with some at least just to do make up for poeple to apear normal on film. Her name is ruth i should here from her in the next couple days.I will get her number as well just in case she dosnt call. And last my neighbor here carmen mcdougle brother still works for paramount here on the northshore,he said for a fee of $500 they will play pretty much anything we want.I asked him to find out the format they use right now.And when were ready he will talk to his boss for us and get us in for our big premiere night.wow is that a ways off but at least we have a place to view it when its done.

Blood Recipies
blood recipe
16 0z. CornSyrup
1 0z. red food coloring
1 0z. Washing Detergent
1 0z Water
1 teaspoon ARROWROOT
Add to water heated on stove
stir till gloopy
add small amount of childrens powder paint stir in.
Add in brown powder paint or coffe concentrate to darken blood if needed.
Also water can be added to thin out as needed
Blood recipe
red food coloring
to any washing liquid.
cheap and foams slightly.
MB2 Blood
Flour Base
1/2 to 2 level teaspoons of plain flour per cup (250ml). Mix flour into water completely (no lumps) before heating. Bring to boil then simmer for 1/2 hour. Stir frequently.
Cool before adding food color. Stir in any surface scum. Makes a good base for stage blood. Slightly slimy. Fairly low surface tension. Soaks and spreads well.
One cup batch of MB2:
1 oz (29ml) Red food coloring (Durkee (R) brand or equivalent)
1/8 teaspoon (.6ml) Green food coloring (Durkee (R) brand or equivalent)
Add flour base described above to a total of one cup (250ml).
There is no sugar and very little food in the MB2 formula so it's probably less attractive to insects. Shelf life is fairly short (days) at room temp. Does not go rank but ferments a bit and looses viscosity.
This formula will temporarily stain skin. Seems to wash out of cotton cloths OK.
Cherry Red
Mix 1 cup water and 1 tablespoon flour. Bring to a boil and let boil for 3 min. Then let simmer on low for 15 min. Remove from heat and let stand around 5 min then mix in one 0.13 oz. package of black cherry (powder) kool aid mix. You will see the results right away. When I priced one packet of kool aid to the food coloring it was about a quarter of the price.
It is a little thick but a good color. Another cool part is if you do get some in your mouth or have to drink it as for a vampire movie, it tastes pretty good to.
Jelly Blood
Microwave 3-4 bottles of glycerin then add one cube of strawberry jelly and mix until dissolved. Then add small amount of gelatine (1/5 of a packet) and then add red food colouring to desired effect. Keep stirring until mixed well. It is sligtly runny but great for that reservoir dogs look in back seat of the car. All ingredients are easily found in supermarkets.
Buckets o' Blood
This is great for the 'hands-on' type of blood, and (from what I hear) also works well in bath-tub sized proportions.
1 package plain gelatin or 1 package red colored JellO
2 bottle red food coloring (especially if using plain gelatin)
1 tbsp green food coloring
1 - 5 gallons of water (depending on desired consistancy)
Directions are simple: Follow the instructions on the side of the jello package, but double or quadruple the amount of water needed, and don't add any sugar. Doubling the water gives you a very slimy, gloopy jello which doesn't look a lot like blood, but can be fun to get kids to stick their hands into at hallowe'en parties. If you use 5 gallons of water, you're going to have quite a thin runny blood, great for pouring over bloodied bodies in bathtubs or splashing on walls (especially if you can hose down the walls after - I wouldn't recommend this in your livingroom or parent's bedroom). You can play around with the recipe to get the desired consistancy - gelatin is reasonably cheap and available in almost any grocery store.
Realistic Recipe
2/3 c. Corn Syrup
1/3 c. Warm Water
5 Tbsp Corn Starch
4 tsp red food coloring
1 Tbsp Powdered Cocoa
2 drops of green or yellow food coloring
Mix the corn starch with the water in a large mixing bowl. Stir in the corn syrup. Add the food coloring slowly, checking for color.

Fleshing Out The Story
Skitz and Geek Productions have begun script preparations for their first terrifying film.
Helmed by Byron Steele (Geek) and Chris Hamill (Skitz), the upcoming production by the new filmmakers is currently undergoing story prep and possible location scouting.
They will also be searching the area for local talent who aren’t afraid to get a little messy.
“It’s time to put the splatter back into horror movies. The genre has recently been hit by a flood of so-called horror movies that have no blood, no real scares, and basically no horror” said Chris, “We want to give the old-school horror fans what they really want.”
Both being horror fanatics from a young age, Chris and Byron would go to the local video store and rent every title they could get their hands on, no matter how bad the film. “Some were real stinkers, but we would sit through every last minute. Even when the movie was as bad as Curse of the Blue Lights” Chris recalls.
